Most Anything
30cm x 35cm, mixed media on board.
Original artwork made from acrylics, inks and pastels.
Artist’s Note: The trees and lake in this painting are inspired by photographs of the woods in which TOMI wrote her song ‘The Lemon Tree’ from her album, ‘Sweet, Sweet Honey’ In the song she sings over and over how she would do ‘most anything’ to have her lover return to her.
I chose to saturate the sky in pure yellows to express her hope, like the melody, but also the nostalgia and sadness that she expresses in her wistful lyrics and voice. She sings to the clouds of a love that has yellowed. A love that can’t come back.
